When Lawrence Lessig pleads, I’m prone to listen (and to plead as well).

Point taken, Dave…

Monday, October 31st, 2005

Dave points to my comments on the OPML Validator, and in the process points out (perhaps inadvertently) that my blog’s html pages make it a little hard to figure out who I am (hint: my first name’s not Kin ). My contact link is several posts down the page and not all that [...]

Frosty mornings…

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

We’ve had frost on the ground the last few mornings here, the first of the season. Frost on the ground, of course, means frost on the cars. With the kids out of school and some vacation time stashed I’ve taken the last few days off work (a big change from my usual practice [...]

Dave’s OPML Validator Beta

Friday, October 28th, 2005

Dave’s made it to the web with his OPML Validator Beta. On the surface it seems a little more strict than Randy’s validator.
Dave’s linked to the caveats of the beta-ness of the tool, as well, which is pretty nice - especially the presence of the valid and invalid test files. As I linked [...]

Using multiple GMail accounts with Thunderbird

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Updated directions below; including a dialog-based set of instructions
I’ve been hassled for a while with what I perceived as a problem with GMail that I was finally able to solve yesterday.
I have 2 GMail accounts, and I subscribe to various mailing lists (especially Gooogle Groups) with different accounts depending on the purpose of the group, [...]

Flock has flown!

Friday, October 21st, 2005

The Flock Developer Preview is now available.
Well, as a starting point, and with only a little bit of playtime, I think Flock in pretty darned cool!  Not a Firefox killer, yet, but I could see how it might become so, especially if more “social” capabilities are added to it as development continues.
My 5 favorite things [...]

elliptical in OPML (version 2.0)

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

Hammered together the next version of the wp-opml.php template over the last day or so. This version shows the post links for the entire blog, within their respective categories. Categories are also properly nested. You can see the results here. The template file is available here. You could also browse [...]

tricky (or not) WordPress bug

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

I was having problems validating my new OPML “feed” at Randy Charles Morin’s KBCafe Really Simple Validation engine - I kept getting a 404 error. Same kind of error at Julian Bond’s OPML Browser at Voidstar. Then I discovered that my RSS feeds exhibited the same problem, though they could be subscribed to [...]

Rojolicious users…

Monday, October 17th, 2005

Anyone using Rojolicious should be aware (and probably already is) that there’s a potential problem with the migration scripts from Greasemonkey 0.3.x to 0.5.1. Apparently 0.5.2 fixed this problem, but I think that if you got 0.5.1 before 0.5.2 was available, 0.5.2+ didn’t resolve the issue (I say this because I was at 0.5.3 [...]

elliptical . . .

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

Wow. Busy morning posting. Making up for lost time, I suppose.
Astute readers will probably have noticed a gradual change in the “branding” of my blog. I decided a while ago that “house of the hanged man” didn’t really suit, and while it was, in Allen’s words, unique, I wanted something a little [...]
