elliptical . . .
Wow. Busy morning posting. Making up for lost time, I suppose.
Astute readers will probably have noticed a gradual change in the “branding” of my blog. I decided a while ago that “house of the hanged man” didn’t really suit, and while it was, in Allen’s words, unique, I wanted something a little easier to remember and not so, um, foreboding.
I started with a change to the header image, to a picture entitled Elliptical Awning by Aaronnel deRoy Gruber (thanks, Aaronel). If you haven’t seen his work, by the way, please please go check it out. Haunting and original, very good stuff.
After that I transferred my feeds from FeedBurner feed branded “house of the hanged man” to ones branded “elliptical” and redirected subscribers to those feeds, with nary a complaint or comment. Then I changed the favicon for the site. All of those were done quite a while back.
So now the next step; changing the blog’s title. Hang on a sec … OK, done.
The final step will be to terminate the old Feedburner feeds. I left them running and redirected in part to test my thoughts about using Feedburner for stats but keeping control of my feeds - worked pretty well, I think, and I still feel that using Apache redirects to send urls in my control to the Feedburner addresses gives me the best of both worlds. That said, one of the old Feedburner feeds (the house of the hanged man RSS2.0 feed) has actually gone up in subscriptions. I don’t know where you folks are getting that address, but I’ll be gently redirecting you to the new ones pretty soon.
