Frosty mornings…

We’ve had frost on the ground the last few mornings here, the first of the season. Frost on the ground, of course, means frost on the cars. With the kids out of school and some vacation time stashed I’ve taken the last few days off work (a big change from my usual practice of working from home when the kids are out of school) so have been around in the mornings.

We have kind of an unspoken agreement here that when my wife’s car is not in the garage when the frost hits, it’s my job to scrape the windows for her; it’s usually something that’s my responsibility that keeps the car from fitting in the garage, whether it’s some half-finished project that’s got the auto side of the garage filled up or it’s the junker Subaru sitting in the driveway (that’s the situation right now). I don’t always remember to do this, but I try to.

Thursday morning I was out scraping the car and thinking to myself how nice it would be if I had someone to scrape my car, which always needs scraped even if the other car fits in the garage. Wouldn’t I be lucky if I didn’t have to do it at all, for any cars?

After several minutes of that thinking it dawned on me that I am even more lucky to have someone whose car windows I can scrape.

I don’t think I could have said anything like that, as well as you just did. We are lucky!
