AttentionRecorder and custom service

Is anyone out there running a custom attention-recording service, a la the Attention Toolkit?

I’m having some troubles with the new version of the AttentionRecorder extension and custom services. Essentially it’s worked intermittently in Firefox 1.5, but then inexplicably seems to stop recording. It seem to be related to adding a custom service, but only based on my fairly non-rigorous testing. I’d like to try it out with a different custom attention service and make sure that it’s not related to the one I’m running specifically.

Additionally, I would welcome someone to send me a few benign clicks at my attention service address to make sure it’s not just my machine that’s got everything frelled up. I’ll remove any clicks you send after I receive them. If you’re interested or willing, please leave a comment.

hi, Mike Frumin here — I developed the Attention Toolkit for the AttentionTrust, and worked with Stan James on some of the concepts behind the Extension/Recorder (ATX).

I too have seen the ATX stop recording (tho on FF 1.0.x not 1.5) but I think what had happened was that somehow the list of URL’s for services to send the data to got cleared out. That is, double check the variable attention.attentionbankSendList in about:config.

Also, I don’t know exactly where you are doing your debugging, but it would obviously be good to check if the XML requests are really not being sent by the ATX, or if they are just somehow getting processing errors by the toolkit.

lastly, double-check that you haven’t de-activated the ATX recorder with the button right next to the address bar.

or email me for more help, and I can help bring Stan into the conversation.
