On the death of a loved one

“The question of death is also the question of life, panditji, and the question of how to live is also the question of love. That is the question you have to go on answering, to which there is no answer excpet in the going on.”

from Shalimar the Clown by Salman Rushdie

Are you reading this? Have you read Rushdie before? I was thinking about going to the library today to pick this up, actually. I am a fan, though I have to be in the right mood to read such dense stuff. But I really liked “The Ground Beneath Her Feet”… I don’t think I know anybody else who likes Salman Rushdie…

Indeed I am, though I’m concerned about getting through it - it’s a new book with a 14-day loan, and my reading speed isn’t great these days.

Actually I’m a third the way into this - my first Rushdie - and it’s not thick at all yet. Quite enjoyable. Heard good things about The Ground… as well; maybe I’ll try that after I finished.
