Progressive rocks!

It’s not all that often that I feel compelled to give a great customer service rating to anyone, least of all to an insurance company for whom I’m not a customer, but my recent experience with Progressive Insurance is one of the exceptions.

From the start, when I called my report in to them, Progressive has been very friendly and helpful. One would think that’s not much to ask from a company that you’re on the phone with, but these days it’s clearly a rareity. Once we were actually contacted by the adjuster for the claim, the experince got even better.

Our adjuster, Adam Charnstrom, was a walking, talking advertisement for Progressive, and I mean that in a good way. From the moment we first talked, the evening after the accident, he was solicitious, polite, and apologetic. He made sure never to end a conversation without having answered all of my questions. The following day he made it down to estimate repairs on the van and spent several hour looking over vehicle. We spoke briefly and he left, and later that evening we had his determination, made out decision, and he ran the check back down to us (about 30 miles south of Madison) that evening.

Adam declared our van a total loss, which just from the damage seen in my previous post wouldn’t seem necessary, but since the van’s more than 10 years old with 160K+ on it, it makes sense. In determining the actual cash value, Adam was more than fair, not deducting every little detail that he could have to lower the value of the vehicle, and unfailingly polite and helpful throughout.

This was the kind of interaction that can make customers out of non-customers. If Progressive treats me this well and I’m not even a customer, I imangine that their customer service is equivalent or even better. If I decide to change auto insurance, Progressive will be at the top of my list.

Thanks, Progressive and Adam.
