Search box in Drupal

Argh! This took me for frellin’ ever.

Working on a drupal site, I activated the built in search module. Great. Go to the blocks admin screen and enable and position the Search block. Nothing. No block, no search form, no nothing.

Finally I realize that it’s controlled by the access settings and I have to enable it for users (including myself).

Harumph.

I’ve been through this before, myself. I can’t understand why when you activate a module, it doesn’t become enabled, by default. If you activate a module, it usually means you want to actually “see” it.

It would be nice if there was some sort of indication in the module section to let you know the status. Mambo and Joomla do the same thing (unpublished by default), but at least give you a visual indication.

One thing’s for sure, though…now that you know, it probably won’t happen, again.

Absolutely right, Tom. I’ll remember it for sure, now….
