Website Flags

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

From Google Blogscoped:

W3.org, makers of all web standards, created a highly accessible design on a beloved Netscape 3 gray background. The flag is still a draft and comes with an audio version for the sight-impaired.
The flag for the RIAA is pretty good, too.

GigaVox Media is live…

Friday, June 30th, 2006

This morning, Doug Kaye of IT Conversations and The Conversations Network announced the founding of a for-profit arm partner for those not-for-profit organizations, GigaVox Media Incorporated. You can read the announcement here (pdf file) or listen to it here. Doug’s also announced it on his blog, and there’s likely to be some discussion […]

Save the Internet

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

I generally try to stay away from anything political here (aside from the fact that pretty much everything is political), but here’s a worthy cause for which I will break that informal rule.
This isn’t just a bipartisan effort, it’s a multipartisan one, and is one of the most important issues facing the US today. […]

SuprGlu - collected online self-ness

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

SuprGlu is a sort of a personality aggregator for the web published by Iridesco. If you wanted to collect all the information available by you or about you that you’re responsible for, SuprGlu’d be a place to do it.
The essential idea here is that you give SuprGlu a bunch of inputs of your data […]

Pandora - new music finder

Saturday, December 3rd, 2005

I suspect most will have heard about Pandora; the company was reviewed by TechCrunch, and the free release was publicized there as well. I first heard about the idea on an NPR segment about Pandora’s parent, the Music Genome Project.
I don’t know what I can add to Michael’s original review at TechCrunch, but I […]

Kudos to Allen (and Wondir)!

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

On two (belated) fronts.

On the professional level: Revolution Health Group Announces Initial Acquisitions, Wondir acquired. I think this is good news, and Allen seems to think so, too, though the portion of the press release dealing with the Wondir purchase minimizes Wondir’s true nature:
“Wondir, Inc., which provides a community-based search for information about health […]

Wondiring: Musings on Wondir 2.0

Friday, August 19th, 2005

Allen Searls responds to my comment about a mechnism for bloggers to connect with the Wondir Q & A service.
My concerns include
Wondir … seems a bit of a roach motel of users … in so far as Wondir users have little reason to leave the site for any of their Wondir-related activity. I think […]

Thanks, Rojo-folk! (and new version of Rojolicious)

Monday, July 11th, 2005

The folks over at Rojo have fixed a bug with the share page that was making the tag field disappear from the page. Now they’re back!

Since I use Rojolicious as my main in-road to posting entries to de.icio.us, missing this field was kind of a big deal to me. Thanks, Rojo!
In concert with […]

My email to 1and1 regarding bittorrent

Monday, June 6th, 2005

The contents of my email to my hosting company regarding their misguided bittorrent policy:
<snip>
I read today that 1and1 is implementing a support policy regarding bittorrent files, and further that this policy is misguided.
This is unfortunate and must be reconsidered. The bittorrent technology is capable of vast and important non-infringing uses. I use it […]

Rojolicious; closing the loop between Rojo and del.icio.us

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

When Steve Gillmor wrote:
I wish Joshua Schacter would respond to Chris Alden and work out a Rojo flag-to-del.ico.us bridge so I can autopopulate my del.icio.us feed with items.
I responded by saying that it seemed an easy fix for something like Greasemonkey to take care of. Knowing from the same post that Steve is running […]
